The number of households on the East Dorset Housing Register is
over 2257; of these more than 1016 are families with children. It
is not possible for these housing needs to be met within the
existing housing owned by housing associations.
Therefore, it is essential that we
make the best use of all the housing in the area. The most recent
census reported over 700 empty homes within the District. From
Council Tax data it is estimated the number to be in the region of
400. Whichever figure you take with such high levels of housing
need, one empty home is one too many!

Council the Council

the District Council.
